VITAL RECORDS

of

MIDDLESEX COUNTY

MASSACHUSETTS

To the end of the year 1849

These towns have no published vital records prior to 1850. They were each formerly a part of another town. For possible records, see the records of the parent town(s).

Ashland was founded in 1846 and its parent towns were Framingham, Holliston and Hopkinton.

The records have not been published. The Town Clerk is trying to get the original handwritten records preserved and bound.
See Framingham,
also Holliston,
and Hopkinton for possible records.

Ayer was founded in 1871 and its parent towns were Groton and Shirley.
See Groton,
and Shirley for possible records.

Belmont was founded in 1859 and its parent towns were Waltham, Watertown and West Cambridge (now Arlington).
See Arlington,
also Waltham,
and Watertown (to be done later) for possible records.

Everett was founded in 1870 and its parent town was Malden.
See Malden for possible records.

Hudson was founded in 1866 and its parent towns were Marlborough and Stow.
See Marlborough,
and Stow for possible records.

Maynard was founded in 1871 and its parent towns wer Stow and Sudbury.
See Stow,
and Sudbury for possible records.

Melrose was founded in 1850 and its parent town was Malden.
See Malden for possible records.

North Reading was founded in 1853 and its parent town was Reading.
See Reading for possible records.

Somerville was founded in 1842 and its parent town was Charlestown.
The Charlestown "records" were published as "The Genealogies and Estates of Charlestown, MA 1629-1818." These will take extensive work to put in a more useable format. We do not know about the records between 1818 and 1842 nor about 1842 and on.

Winchester was founded in 1850 and its parent towns were Medford, Woburn and West Cambridge (now Arlington).
See Arlington,
also Medford,
and Woburn for possible records.

The records of these towns were done in chronological order and/or in multi-volume sets, rather than alphabetic within Births, Marriages & Deaths. They are going to require a lot of extra work before they can be put online. We will try to get the images, and some form of an index, but that, too, will be when we have time.

Watertown founded 1630, and
